The first radio station that transmitted in Cuba was the
2LC of Luis Casas Romero, August, 22, 1922.In October the 10th, 1922 were
carried out the first transmission of the PWX, what was considered officially
as the inauguration of the broadcasting in Cuba; the inaugural speech
of the President of the Republic, by then, Alfredo Zayas was transmitted,
in Spanish and in English for the North American people.
From its beginnings until the decade of the thirty the radio maintained
a programming based fundamentally on the information and the entertainment.
In February of 1959, the 24th comes out to the air from the Sierra Maestra,
Radio Rebelde, and a radio station of the revolution. At the end of 1959
we had in the country 156 radial lecturers.
With the victory of the revolution in 1959, changes take place in the
radio. In 1960 the Front of Free Radio Stations is created (IFFRS), which
gave to the Cuban state the facilities and the operation of its services.
In May, the 1rst, 1961 the International radio station Radio HabanaCuba
came out to the air.
After the revolutionary victory the government worked so that the radio
sign could be captured in the whole national territory, and that this
was to the service of the socioeconomic development, with a net of national,
